Kia ora! Copywriting sounds complicated, but in theory, it’s pretty simple. Here’s the gist:
Every day, I come up with interesting ideas that help our brands sell more stuff
The best ideas come from briefs
A brief is really just a problem neatly explained
To solve a brief, I’ll come up with 3-5 solutions
I then put the solutions in a presentation
If the solutions don’t solve the problem, we go again
Rinse & Repeat.
I also work in tandem with an art director. He’s better with pictures. I’m better with words.
We also check in each day with a creative director. They keep our ideas from getting too crazy. Or, god forbid, too boring.
If all goes well, we’ll solve hundreds of problems for our brands every year
If it doesn’t go well, we come up with more solutions
If it’s really not going well…I start updating my portfolio
